ABOUT US
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Pure Shem, we create simple, functional porcelain objects meant to be used, not admired from a distance. Each piece — whether it’s a mug, a vase, or a candleholder — is made by hand, one at a time, with a focus on utility and quiet beauty.
Our approach is grounded in practicality: Does the mug fit well in the hand? Does the vase hold its shape over time? Does the object serve its purpose with ease? These are the questions that shape every decision.
And yet, behind each object is a story of trial and error — of years spent learning through doing, of countless small failures and fleeting moments of real joy. When you buy something from Pure Shem, you’re not just buying a thing. You’re holding a piece of time, care, and life. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Our work doesn’t try to impress. It is sincere, deliberate, and deeply personal — built to live with you, day after day.

ABOUT US
ABOUT NURDAN
Pure Shem began as the natural outcome of Nurdan’s passion for porcelain.
Her passion, combined with the identity of a serious businesswoman and the experience of motherhood, gradually transformed through training that started with overglaze painting and later expanded into porcelain shaping. This journey ultimately revealed her artist–designer persona and led her into an entirely new direction. Although she experimented with different materials along the way, she has always remained firmly devoted to porcelain as her true passion.
What began in a small workshop with a focus on unique, meticulously handcrafted designs has grown into a creative studio known for its quality craftsmanship and distinctive aesthetic. Nurdan’s collections are deeply personal—shaped by her life, her taste, her travels to unique destinations, and her experiences. As the studio evolved, so too did its reputation for refined design and artisanal excellence.
Today, Pure Shem is a recognized name in the world of handcrafted design. Every piece is still created entirely by hand, with the same commitment to technique and quality that defined the brand from the very beginning. At times, her work carries a certain naïve charm, yet always reveals a distinct design sophistication.

At times, her work carries a certain naïve charm, yet always reveals a distinct design sophistication.
In her most recent collection, however, a more elaborate approach is evident—marked by intricate design and complex craftsmanship. She is professional, sincere, and creative, yet still passionately devoted to one of the most challenging materials of all: porcelain. A stubborn material, faced by an equally persistent personality. Nurdan’s hardworking nature drives her to continually search, learn, and refine—pushing her work toward increasingly elaborate expressions. Moving forward, she will continue to shape her refined sensibility through porcelain, allowing time and persistence to uncover whatever surprises may emerge.
